Tips for all on keeping fit and active from your own home

Keeping as active as we can in these times of social distancing is going to be really helpful in supporting both our physical and our mental wellbeing.

This page aims to provide you some support and ideas on what you can do.

Although staying home will save lives, you are allowed to go out once a day to get some exercise as long as you adhere to the 2m rule for anyone outside your household. If you can, take advantage of this – getting some fresh air in your lungs, getting your heart rate up and getting out into nature will help.

Even when you are indoors, there are some amazing online resources for all levels, so why not try one of the suggestions below that your local GPs have recommended. You can start with just 10 minutes a day and build up from that.

Often when there are a lot of worries or uncertainties around we can lose our motivation to do the things we know might help. Exercise can be one such thing. We may need to do some exercise even if we don’t feel like doing it, and then see how we feel afterwards. You’ll be glad you did!

We’ve all got a bit more time on our hands so why not start a new habit, a good one at that, and one that may help you long after we’ve beaten Coronavirus!
